Upgrading from X9
Please note that the new version of the software is not backwards compatible. This means any reference libraries created in EndNote 20 will no longer function in EndNote X9.
Before upgrading to the latest version of the software, you will need to ensure that your existing references transfer seamlessly. The easiest method to accomplish this is to synchronise your references from X9 into EndNote Online. Synchronising in EndNote 20 will then recreate your references in the new format.
You can also use EndNote X9 to create a compressed backup of your references. Once you have created a compressed backup, this file can be opened in EndNote 20. You will be prompted to convert your references to the new format used by the software.
