Introduction

EndNote Online allows you to save references to an individual web account and add them to documents using the Cite While You Write toolbar.   

Getting Started with EndNote Online

If you register directly with EndNote you will only receive access to a basic version of the software and a limited number of referencing styles. To receive access to the enhanced university version you will need to register via the library using the instructions below.

  • Visit this Manchester Met login screen
    1. Enter your Manchester Met email address in the following format. StuID@stu.mmu.ac.uk for students,  ID@ad.mmu.ac.uk for staff, then select Next. 
    2. Enter your Manchester Met password and select Sign In.
    3. If you have already signed into any of the library resources or are using an on-campus PC you may skip this stage and go directly to EndNote Online.
  • At the EndNote Online screen, select Register.
    1. Enter an email address.  It is recommended that you use your University email address.
    2. Choose a password for your EndNote Account. This must be at least 8 characters long, include at least one number, one letter and a special character.
    3. Enter your name and the code visible on screen and select Register. A confirmation message will appear, select OK.
    4. To activate the EndNote account, access your email account and locate an email from clarivate.com. Select the link to activate.  A confirmation message will appear on screen, select OK.
    5. This will return you to the EndNote Online screen, where you can use your account details to access EndNote. The first time you access your account you will need to select ’I agree to comply with license agreement’. You can now start to enter references. 

Once you have created an EndNote account, you can access it directly by going to EndNote Online.

    EndNote is a software package that you can use to collect and organise your references and to create bibliographies.  This video will demonstrate how to create an account with the online version of EndNote.   

    If you register directly with EndNote you will only get access to a basic version of EndNote and a limited number of referencing styles. To get access to the enhanced university version you will need to register via the library.   

    The easiest way to do this is via the library website. 

    You will need to access our EndNote guide. 

    First select Referencing Study Support, now choose EndNote.  

    This will take you to the library’s EndNote guide, select the link for EndNote Online page. 

    Next select this link to register for an account.  

    You will first be taken to MMU login screen, so enter your MMU email address.  Make sure that you enter your email address in the format given on screen, then click Next. 

    Next you will be asked to enter your MMU password, then click Sign In. 

    Please note if you had already signed into any library resources or are using an on campus machine, you may skip these screens and will be taken directly to EndNote. 

    This is the login screen for EndNote Online where you can set up your EndNote Online account.   

    Click Register. 

    Now enter your email address, it is advisable to use your MMU email address. 

    Next you need to choose a password for your EndNote Online account.   

    It must be at least 8 characters long, contain at least one letter, one number as well as a special character such as an exclamation mark 

    Then enter you name, then the code visible on screen and then click register. 

    A confirmation message will appear on screen.   

    You now need to access your email account where you should find an email from clarivate.com. You need to click on the link to Activate your EndNote Online account. 

    A confirmation message will appear on screen, click OK. 

    This will return you to the EndNote Online screen where you can now enter your EndNote account details. 

    The first time you login you will need to complete the registration by clicking I agree. 

    You are now ready to start adding references to EndNote. 

    Please note that once you have created an account you can access it directly by going to www.myendnoteweb.com
