Work-based projects
All apprentices undertake a synoptic work-based project towards the end of their apprenticeship which forms a crucial part of the end-point assessment process. The synoptic project is a significant live project, managed in the workplace by the apprentice across a substantial period (usually around 6 months). It should be aligned to organisational need and demonstrate strategic impact and return on investment.
Details of our approach to work-based projects and guidance can be found in our guide.
360 feedback
A 360-degree feedback process gathers comments from multiple sources at different levels of an organisation, such as supervisors, colleagues, direct reports and even customers or suppliers. This process helps to generate a range of feedback from different perspectives in order to enable reflection, development and future growth. We encourage apprentices to use this process to gather evidence about the skills and behaviours for the apprenticeship portfolio, at least once per year.
End point assessment (EPA) guidance
The EPA is an integral component of the course. The degree will be achieved upon successful completion of this assessment.
The EPA is designed in collaboration with employers and applies to all organisations delivering this apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship standard and assessment information
The apprenticeship standard provides the building blocks for our Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship. It is the blueprint for the development of our apprentices across the duration of the course. The standard will be used regularly during reviews as a point of reference, and we recommend that you familiarise yourself with its contents. The assessment plan includes information about the end-point assessment (EPA).
Apprentices are expected to gather work-based evidence of their development of application of knowledge, skills and behaviours. The document used to track this in reviews is the portfolio index. (Column I)
