    Key facts

    The University of Bologna (UoB) is considered to be the oldest university in the world. Despite its traditional history, the university has a young atmosphere and is the most popular university in Italy. There is a strong international community, with foreign students making up for around 8% of the 87,000 students enrolled.

    UoB was the first university in Europe to take part in the Erasmus programme and its history is intertwined with the great names of science and literature. 

    The university recently adopted a multi-campus structure, giving you the opportunity to study in Bologna, Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna and Rimini.

    Outside of studying UoB offers language courses,  events, music, sport and plenty more to enrich your university experience.

  • Polytechnic University of Milan

    Key facts

    The Polytechnic University of Milan trains the next generation of engineers, architects and industrial designers. The university welcomes international students from over 100 different countries, who make up around 6,700 members of the student population. 

    Each course gives you access to relevant modern equipment, with architecture labs varying from urban simulation, to climate change, risk and resilience. The Polytechnic University of Milan takes pride in its international reach, and partners with European universities to develop innovative research and training projects.

  • University of Milano-Bicocca

    Key facts

    The University of Milano-Bicocca (UoMB) is a young, dynamic and innovative university, which in the space of few years has created an extensive network that includes many world-famous partner universities, research centres and top corporations.

    Every year, UoMB welcomes around 2,200 international students from all over the world. Of these, around 300 come to Milan on various programmes (exchange, Erasmus, double degree or PhD) for a period of one or two terms. 

    For support while you’re there, the student orientation office provides information on every aspect of university life: the educational programmes, enrolment and registration, procedures and deadlines, internships, job placements, languages and IT services and opportunities.

  • University of Rome Tor Vergata

    Every year more than 500 international students enrol at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. The university is dedicated to offering the best experience possible to students coming from abroad. For guidance during your visit, the welcome office can advise on all aspects of moving to Italy and will help and support you during your exchange.

    For business students, Rome is a great place to study, The city hosts the headquarters of many international business companies, such as Eni, Enel, TIM and national and international banks such as Unicredit and BNL.

  • Academy of Fine Arts in Venice

    The academy began as a room on the upper floor of the Farfalle Fonteghetto, a flour warehouse and market, near Venice’s main square. 

    Over 250 years later, the academy is now a prestigious university offering degrees and exchange programmes alike. Its location in Venice is known as a great source of inspiration to artists and visitors, and early alumni include Antonio Canova, Ettore Tito and Emilio Vedova.

    The academy is close to the Venice Biennale, which is the oldest international exhibition for contemporary arts and a great opportunity to develop important connections during your studies.

    The Higher Institute of Architecture of Venice (Iuav) is a well-established and prestigious university, founded by a collective of internationally recognised designers. Iuav was one of the first architecture schools in Italy.

    The curriculum focusses on the teaching, research and practice of the design of living spaces and environments, as well as the design of everyday objects.  Studying here, you will benefit from the  connections that Iuav has with important Italian and foreign cultural institutions.

    The university has a population of around 4,200 students, and is known for developing the next generation of innovative architects. Its notable scholars include industry leads such as Le Corbusier and Richard Serra, among others who have tutored students over the years.
