Open Day Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about our Open Days 2023

  • I’ve booked an open day but haven’t had any emails. When will I receive my email about the open days?

When you booked your place, you should have received a confirmation email. If it’s not in your inbox, check your junk folder for emails from openday@mmu.ac.uk and add us to your trusted senders list. If you haven’t received any emails, please email openday@mmu.ac.uk with your full name and the email address you booked from.

Please feel free to forward emails about the open day to your guests so they also have all the information. Your guest(s) do not need to book their place separately and they don’t need a QR code ticket.

  • Do my guests need a ticket?

No, your guests do not need a ticket. We will send you a QR code ticket when you book your place and only you will need to scan this when you register.
If you are coming with a friend(s) who are interesting in studying at Manchester Met, they will need to book their own place and have their own ticket.

  • I want to add another guest to my booking. How do I do it?

Please email openday@mmu.ac.uk with your full name and the number of guests.

  • Will my guests be able to come into the talks with me?

Hopefully your guests will be able to come into talks. Occasionally when we have really popular talks that look like they’re reaching seating capacity, we ask that only one of your guests come to make sure that all prospective students get priority

  • What’s the best way to get to the open day?

We have specific travel arrangements for open days, please see our travel page.

  • What time do I need to arrive?

We are open from 9.30am (tours of accommodation start at 10.30am) and we recommend spending most of the day with us if you’d like to see everything on offer. A couple of weeks before the open day we will send you an email which has the times and locations of talks and tours, you will be able to select activities to create your own personalised schedule for the day. (Please note, selecting activities is just a guide to help you plan and doesn’t guarantee entry to talks which may reach capacity).

  • Where do I sign in on the day?

There are ‘registration’ points where you need to get your QR code scanned in order to sign in. The best way to choose your registration point is to look at the Open Day Guide to see which building your first talk/activity is taking place and see which registration point is closest.

    There are three registration points:
    Business School – M15 6BH
    Geoffrey Manton building – M15 6EB
    Brooks building – M15 6GX

  • Will I be able to walk between buildings at an open day?

Our buildings are in walking distance from one another. The majority of our buildings are around All Saints Park except for Brooks Building (health and education courses) which is approximately a seven-minute walk from the Business School.

If you or one of your guests have any special requirements, please email us at openday@mmu.ac.uk and give 24 hours’ notice before an event for us to be able to assist you as best we can.

  • Myself or someone in my group needs has special requirements, who should I let know?

If you or one of your guests have any special requirements, please email us at openday@mmu.ac.uk with the details (include your full name and the email address you booked with) and give us 24 hours’ notice before an open day for us to be able to assist you as best we can.

  • I am a blue badge holder. Where is the best place to park?

We have a number of accessible car parking spaces that you are welcome to use (they are on a first come first served basis) and these do not need to be booked, just make sure that you display your blue badge. It is worth bearing in mind that if you are a blue badge holder, you will not be ticketed even if you park in any of the University car park spaces, not just the accessible ones. As such, if you arrive at the car park we mention below, and there are no spaces in the accessible bay, but are spaces elsewhere then you are welcome to park in one of the other spaces instead.

The most accessible car park for the All Saints campus is located off Chester Street on the campus map, which can be found here: manchester-met-campus-map.pdf (mmu.ac.uk) If you use the postcode: M1 5SH this is the postcode of a bar almost opposite the car park (called The Courtyard) and is probably the best one to use as it will get you onto the correct road. The Business School can be accessed from the back of the buildings from under the Mancunian Way.

If your open day is based over at Brooks building (health and education courses), there is a surface level carpark directly outside the Brooks building with reserved areas for those with access needs. All disabled bays around Brooks are on one level on the ground floor. The post code to use is M15 5RN.

  • How do accommodation tours work?

During your tour you’ll get to see a sample of our halls, but it won’t always be possible for you to view the specific accommodation you’re considering as it depends on availability of the current residents. In a tour, you will be taken to see two halls, typically this is one with an en-suite bathroom and one with shared bathroom.

You don’t need to pre-book your accommodation tour, just make your way to one of the departure points and join the next available tour. Please be aware that you may be required to queue during peak times.
