About the project

Developing our strategy

Over the past five years, we’ve become known as one of the UK’s top-rated Universities for sustainability. We asked our communities to help set our ambition to make even greater strides over the next ten years, shaping our strategy to 2030.

Since the start of 2021, we have been engaging with our communities – including students, staff members, external partners, and local residents to shape our Leadership in Sustainability Strategy (2022-26), which sets out how we will remain a leading, sustainable university and play our part in tackling the environmental and societal challenges facing our world.

We undertook a series of workshops, meetings, and surveys to give our communities the opportunity to share their thoughts on what we need to do to remain a leading sustainable university to 2030 and beyond. Our stakeholders comments and views were taken on board, along with further national and international commitments, targets and sector best practise, to develop the goals for our new strategy.

Engaging our students

We worked with our student sustainability ambassadors and MetMUnch students to develop this video, which was shared with all staff, students and the community to promote opportunities to contribute toward the strategy development.
