Requesting alternative formats

Our books won’t always meet your needs, for instance you may need a print book in a Word or PDF format, so that it can be used with screen reading software.

You can request any print book using the Alternative Formats Service, but the library must hold a physical copy so we can request an accessible copy on your behalf.

All students can request copies of books that we don’t currently have in stock by using Request it!. Please use the ‘Any Further Info’ box to state that you require an alternative format copy and indicate your preference of book format.

Please note only eligible users can make requests using the Alternative Formats Service. If you are unsure if this includes you, contact a member of the Disability Service.

Requesting book collection

If you struggle getting books from the shelves, you can email the library with a list of the books you need and we will collect them for you. We’ll put them on the reservation shelves and let you know when they’re ready to collect

Online sources

Most of our online resources will have more information detailing their accessibility features and how to adapt  content to meet your needs. If you need support in finding this information or using a resource’s accessibility features,  get in touch with us.
