Your guide to IT support on campus

Everything you need is at your fingertips

IT Support
Everything you need to stay connected on and off campus

To get the most out of your time learning at university, you’ll need access to technology and IT support.

As a student at Manchester Met there’s a wide range of technology at your fingertips. Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s available to help you this academic year.

MyMMU app

MYMMU is one of the first things you need to download as it’s where you’ll find all the online tools you’ll need to enjoy a successful studying experience. Access Moodle, your student timetable, attendance, campus maps and useful learning, social and wellbeing resources.

Either download the MyMMU app on Apple or Android or visit MyMMU on a web browser. All you need to log in is your university username 8digitID@stu.mmu.ac.uk and password.

Moodle

Moodle is our online learning environment that will definitely enhance your learning experience. It provides access to online course materials from slides and podcasts to lecture notes, plus you can also discuss content with tutors and peers, submit your work and receive feedback from your tutor.

Your Moodle areas will give you access to each of the units you are studying as well as your programme of study and any supplementary resources and information from your faculty, so it’s an invaluable tool to help you with your studies.

For returning students, you will have seen that Moodle has a new look. You can check out what's new with Moodle (Student video). Find out more about how to navigate the new layout via the Student Resources page.

Accessing PCs on campus

If you don’t have access to your own computer, we have PCs and Macs available across campus. Some software is only available in certain locations, take a look at what’s available.

Rent a laptop on campus

If you prefer something more portable, you can loan a laptop free of charge for 24 hours. They are available in lockers at different locations on campus. All you need to access them is your student ID card. For a 7-day loan, just get in touch with library staff on the Helpdesk at All Saints library – view the opening times.

Lecture capture

If you don’t manage to make notes on everything during your lecture, don’t worry, Lecture Capture has you covered. It records audio and projector content in 51 of our lecture theatres. A handy tool for you to revisit lecture content whenever you like.

Using Wi-Fi on campus

When you are on campus, don’t forget you can connect your devices to Eduroam, our free and secure Wi-Fi service.

You can also use your MMU credentials to connect to Eduroam at other universities around the world. Look where you can use Eduroam.

IT support

Our IT Helpline is available 24/7 to support you throughout your university journey. Either call 0161 247 4646 or raise a ticket via our online Assist portal.

Please visit our IT for Students webpage for more information about our IT services and support available, including exclusive offers on IT equipment.  Visit our IT checklist for new students for more advice on things you need to do when you arrive at university.
