Introduction

If your Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) includes a recommendation for a new computer, you will be asked to make a £200 contribution towards the total cost of the device.

Once you have paid your £200 contribution, you may be able to claim a full or partial reimbursement of this cost. The amount you can claim back is subject to your household income.

How it works

Who is eligible?

To apply for the DSA computer reimbursement, you must:

  • be enrolled on a course at Manchester Met*
  • be means-tested by the Student Loans Company in 2023/24 (where the household income is less than £42,875)
  • have a recommendation for a computer or laptop as part of your DSA
  • have paid the £200 up-front contribution towards the computer or laptop**

*If you are repeating without attendance or suspended from your course, you may still be able to apply but please contact us to check your eligibility.

**If you are struggling to cover the up-front cost, please contact us to ask about other support that may be available.

How to apply

Applications are open all year round, but we encourage you to apply as soon as possible after purchasing the device.

Complete the short application form on the Digital Student Hub (sign in, then select My Support Requests/DSA Computer Reimbursement). Follow the guidance in the application FAQs to reduce any delays to your application.

We aim to assess applications within four weeks.

How much will I get?

  • £25,001-£30,000: £150
  • £30,001-£35,000: £100
