University can be stressful. There may be times when you may need help with your mental health and wellbeing. 

Useful online resources:

  • Centre for Clinical Interventions practical help for common psychological difficulties
  • Manchester Met wellbeing podcasts to help you relax and be mindful
  • Mind offer information and support for mental health problems
  • Kooth offers online text-based counselling support for young people (aged 25 and under) living in Greater Manchester, Qwell is available for anyone aged over 25.
  • NHS self-help guides cover problems such as stress, anxiety, depression, alcohol use, eating disorders, sleep problems and bereavement. Each guide comes with an introductory video and you can download them as a leaflet or audio file.
  • Royal College of Psychiatrists offer information on mental health problems, treatments and other topics, written by psychiatrists with help from patients and carers
  • SilverCloud online Cognitive Behavioural Theraphy (CBT) courses covering a range of topics
  • Start2 use your creativity to improve your wellbeing
  • StudentMinds is the UK’s student mental health charity
  • Student Space wellbeing resources produced by Student Minds to help students who are struggling during coronavirus

Support at Manchester Met:

  • If you would like to speak to someone in person about your mental health, please contact our Counselling, Mental Health and Wellbeing team.
  • If someone you know would benefit from support, ask them to complete our short online wellbeing questionnaire to be directed to the help that’s right for them. 
  • If you do have a long-term mental health condition, you can also contact the Disability Service to ask about other support.
