Manchester Met Rugby Union

Men’s Rugby Union is a performance sport here at Manchester Met where we have an integrated partnership with Sale Sharks providing a pathway into the professional game. We have a track record of nurturing talent through to the Premiership and Championship Leagues. We offer a professional environment for our performance squad looking after the athlete as a whole with individual care and attention provided. .

We have three teams playing in BUCS and two campus league teams, providing something for all abilities.

Women’s Rugby Union is working towards being a focus sport at Manchester Met, with an exciting new partnership with Sale Sharks Women. We offer a performance sport environment training twice a week with two team gym sessions included. We have a number of dual registered Manchester Met and Sale Sharks women’s players. Our women’s lead is Adrian Moffatt (Lancashire Women and Sale DPP) and we have a host of Sharks women who coach our student athletes.

We have further support on offer in the form of scholarships and rugby performance athlete support.

Our rugby is played and trained at Platt Lane Sports Complex in the centre of Fallowfield.

Coaching and Partnership

The University have a strategic partnership with Sale Sharks and their academy. The partnership supports degree apprenticeships, recruitment into the BUCS teams and community coaching.
